Blockhouse is located near the Pearl District at 1988 NW 18th Ave inside of Pomarius Nursery. Our seated capacity is 60, standing is 75. By adding the Pomarius Nursery Orangerie, capacity is 120.

What does the rental fee include?
The rental rate includes a standard 12 hour rental (between 6am – 12am), the set up and break down of Blockhouse’s inventory, a Blockhouse team member on site the entire event, surround sound and a chef inspired kitchen. Your rental also includes chairs for 50 guests, (10) 4ft custom wood tables, (5) 36inch bistro tables, a 6ft wooden bar as well as outdoor lounge furniture and bistro lighting on the patio.
How does catering work at blockhouse?
We ask that all clients choose a company from our preferred catering teams who have worked with Blockhouse, know our space and offer the highest quality of service. If you are considering a catering company that is not on our preferred list, or have a special chef you would like to highlight, please contact us to discuss our non-preferred policies.
Do you have outdoor space?
Yes, blockhouse includes a furnished outdoor patio and also offers options to add on the Pomarius Nursery Orangerie for your event. Both the patio and the canopy are covered year-round with an option to inclose with clear sides in cooler months.
How do I add the Pomarius Canopy to my rental?
Blockhouse coordinates all Pomarius Nursery orangerie rentals. Contracts and payments are easy and taken care of in conjunction with Blockhouse. The spaces are designed to be treated as one, so it’s easy for your Blockhouse coordinator, and other vendors to plan. Access for event set-up in the orangerie starts at 4pm, with guest arrival allowed starting at 6pm after the nursery is closed to the public.
Where do we park?
Street parking is unmetered. There are also several lots available to rent within just a few blocks, including one directly across the street.
If I’m getting married at blockhouse, do I get a rehearsal?
Yes, if you have reserved Blockhouse for your wedding ceremony, a complimentary one hour rehearsal is provided. Rehearsals are scheduled on a first come first serve basis and are scheduled around any other Blockhouse events. Rehearsals in Pomarius Nursery are limited to a 6pm – 8pm timeframe unless otherwise discussed and are scheduled around any other Blockhouse events.
Can I bring my own food and beverage?
All food and beverage must be provided by a licensed and approved establishment.
Are there restrictions on alcohol?
Blockhouse has no restrictions on alcohol. Your caterer that provides food service will typically also manage all beverage service.
Do I need insurance for event?
Yes. The insurance shall be commercial general liability in the amount of at least $1,000,000 general liability and $300,000 damages to premises rented by Lessee. Your Blockhouse Venue Coordinator will help insure this is an easy process and that you have all details required.
Who sets up and takes down each event?
Our team will set up and take down the blockhouse’s inventory and bar before and after your event. This includes tables and chairs as well as our bar and bistros. You or your planner/catering company/rental company are responsible for setting up additional rental items and décor. Don’t worry about cleaning garbage and debris, that is fully covered by the cleaning fee.
When must my décor and rental items be out of the venue?
Typically, all décor and rental items must be out of Blockhouse by the end of your rental timeframe.
What kind of tech are you wired for?
Included with your rental is a built-in surround sound system with an iPad supporting both Pandora and Spotify accounts that can be used for background music. A projector mount is also available and wifi. For additional AV needs please request a quote.
Are there any noise restrictions?
Per City of Portland Ordinance, outside amplified sound must be turned down by 10pm. The blockhouse garage door may need to be closed at this time as well. For longer parties, a noise variance permit may be applied for by blockhouse at the expense for the customer.
